Fancy a job working in publishing? See yourself working for some of the top publishing houses there are today? Publishing covers a variety of industries to do with the production and distribution of information including newspapers, magazines, books, journals and directories.
Due to developments and changes in online publishing and digital media the sector is changing and employment has begun to decline with newspapers seeing the biggest drop. It is not all doom and gloom, however, the new technologies have led to bigger opportunities with areas such as digital publishing and multimedia production making publishing still an exciting and dynamic industry to work in. Audiences require text, audio and video content as well as the latest products from smart phones and tablet devices so there is an ever-increasing demand for skills in sales and marketing, technical and software, business and analytical skills. HarperCollins –

Penguin –
At Penguin, the opportunities for employment are diverse and extend into almost every aspect of publishing. Penguin have made a video about their open day that they run for students and graduate called ‘getting into publishing’. Many who attend the open day end up with work experience and some even end up working for Penguin. Their parent company, Pearson, also offer a variety of internships including, The Pearson Diversity Summer Internship Programme which offers students and graduates from ethnic minority backgrounds the opportunity to work in some of Pearsons world leading businesses including Penguin.
