5 Low-Stress Healthcare Careers to Consider in 2013

Healthcare is a wonderful career field. A common misconception though is that all healthcare jobs are stressful. Thankfully, this isn’t the case. There are healthcare careers that are much less stressful than others. Whether you choose to work with medical records or as a medical librarian, you can have the benefits of a healthcare career without the a lot of stress.

The following are just five low-stress healthcare careers to consider in 2013.

Medical Records Technician

As a medical records technician, you will organize records and code information ensuring the quality as well as the accuracy of the information. It will also be your job to ensure that the information is secure and accessible in both print and electronic format. For this career, you’ll need only a certificate, though an associate’s degree is available.

Medial Laboratory Technician

Do you like digging to find the right answer, an answer that might be elusive? Then the career of a medical laboratory technician may be right for you. The job of a medical laboratory technician is to search for clues to determine the disease that someone may be suffering from. In this position, you’ll be running a number of tests to make sure patients are accurately diagnosed and treated. It’s a very detailed oriented job, but one that you’ll be able to do in quiet. You will need at least an associate’s degree, plus the completion of an accredited training program for medical laboratory technicians.

Audiologist

As an audiologist, you will be working with a team of medical professionals to help those who have hearing disorders. You will be working with speech pathologists and occupational therapists in order to help improve the life of those affected with hearing problems. A master’s degree is necessary for this career, but it’s a very rewarding career that will help improve the lives of others.

Dietitian

As a dietitian, you may work in a medical office, hospital, or even community style setting helping people make the best choices to avoid problems causes by malnutrition and dietary deficiencies. For example, you might work in a hospital, creating menus that match up to the needs of the patients. In order to work as a dietitian, you will need at least a bachelor’s degree.

Medical Librarian

If you enjoy doing research, the career of a medical librarian may be right for you. As a medical librarian, you will research treatment techniques, medical procedures, tests, etc and provide information on your finding to doctors, patients, and other medical professionals. You will need at least a master’s degree in Library and Information Science.

A career in healthcare doesn’t have to be stressful. There are a number of careers that will allow you to work in calm environments and enjoy the benefits that a career in healthcare can provide.
