There are several careers that have made the list of the top highest paying careers of 2013. This list can come in handy for those who are pursuing a degree in a specific field or are trying to decide which type of career they would like to take on.
The earning possibilities are quite endless when it comes to some of these careers.
Becoming a Doctor
Being a doctor is a rewarding career in more than just one way. While doctors are often able to save the lives of patients and treat them for different conditions, they are also earning high salaries. The demand for doctors is on the rise in the United States, which means this is a good field to get into. Of course, becoming a doctor does take plenty of work. However, after all is said and done, the benefits and the salary of a doctor are well worth the time spent earning degrees and becoming certified. In fact, the average starting doctor can earn anywhere from $94,000-$250,000+ a year depending upon their location and specialty.
Taking Care of Animals
Veterinarians are also earning some of the highest salaries. A veterinarian is basically a doctor for all sorts of animals. Some people may automatically assume that veterinarians care only for small pets, which would include cats, dogs, and rabbits. However, this is entirely untrue. Veterinarians often work with larger animals as well. The number of households with pets and livestock has continued to increase over the years, which has allowed veterinarians to make more than they were making just a few years ago. The average starting salary for a veterinarian is $82,000-$100,000+.
Controller of Air Traffic
Air Traffic Controllers are currently making a great deal of money without having to obtain a higher degree. To become an air traffic controller, an individual will need to have an associate’s degree. The good news is that they will not have to pursue a bachelor’s degree to obtain this job and they will be able to earn around $108,000 a year.
Helping Others Emotionally
New psychiatrists are currently earning about $150,000 per year. However, advanced psychiatrists often earn even more than this. There is much more of a demand for psychiatrists now than there was just a decade ago. By becoming a psychiatrist, an individual can get paid to help other people with their problems. Of course, the job does require a college degree and plenty of training. Those who like to help others and want to earn a nice salary may consider following this career.
Careers in the Medical Field
Aside from becoming a doctor, the demand for nurses also continues to increase. A nursing career does not necessarily require a college degree. Most nurses are earning round $61,000 per year. While the salary is not as large as some of the other high paying careers, it is still a fairly high salary for people who do not have to spend years in college to pursue this particular career.
These are just some of the many high paying careers in 2013. Some of these jobs, including those in the medical field, are currently in demand. As the demand increase for these positions, the salary will often increase as well.
