In this day and age we all have so much to worry about, but for many of us our finances are at the top of the list. Thanks to the current financial crisis many of us are having to struggle through with less money than ever. On top of this, job prospects are bad which means that we really want to hold onto our jobs as much as possible. The number of jobs available is lower than ever, and redundancies are high!
Thankfully there are wise career choices we can make, which can help to ensure that our job prospects are as solid as possible. Career choices include:
Nurse
Working in the medical profession is a wise decision if you want a job that is going to do you well. The great thing about the medical profession is that there are many different avenues that you can pursue.
Nursing is a great choice because it is something that is always going to be varied – so as well as having a solid, well paid job you also have one that is interesting!
People will always want medical help and assistance, so choosing a medical career helps to ensure that there will always be a job there for you. The amount of training needed for each job will depend on what you want to do – however there are plenty of ways to find out the information that you need to know. In fact, even a quick search online can help you to read up on the training needed for the job role you are most interested in.
Attorney
Alongside medical help, people will always need legal help. Whether it is simple legal advice or criminal law, this is something that is always going to be needed.
Much like the medical profession there are different careers you can follow when it comes to law. Being an attorney is not easy; you’ll have to study for many years to get there – however this hard work is reflected in your pay packet.
As a fully trained attorney you can expect a great wage, even more so if you step out and start up your own company or become partner in another – the possibilities are endless!
Police
If you feel like you want a more active career then working for the police is a fantastic choice. Not only is working for the police force a solid job, but it is a job that is going to be varied every day.
When it comes to work, not everyone wants to be stuck behind a desk or even kept indoors all day. By working for the police you have a job that is going to get you out and about, and be interesting every day!
Working for the police force offers you a great starting wage and of course the chance for progression. People will always need the police to keep towns and cities safe, so you can also feel confident that your job is going to be there for a long time.
Of course police are needed everywhere, so even if you relocate you will have the chance to do the same job in your new area – perfect! There are different schemes that you can join to get a foot in the door with a police force career, so research the best way for you!
Builder
If you are someone that prefers a hands on approach to work then building work could be for you. Once you are fully trained as a builder and are able to put your hands to work on any project you’ll find that the work will come pouring in.
It makes sense that building work is a solid career, because people will also need help with building extensions and even brand new properties. You can choose to work for someone else when it comes to building, which is a great way to improve your skill set. On top of that there are often the chances to take on private jobs and projects to give your wages a bit of a boost.
Once you have done this you can even take the brave step to set up your own business, and maybe even take a few builders to help you. Running your own business is a big step, but if you choose something like building work that is solid then you give yourself the best possible chance of being successful.
Hairdressing
People often overlook ‘smaller’ jobs like hairdressing but actually it can be a really solid career choice. Hairdressing is a skill that means you will always be in demand for work. I am sure most of us get our hair cut regularly, so it makes sense that hairdressing is seen as a solid career choice.
Many people think that hairdressing isn’t the best paid job you can have, and in many cases you are right. However once you have honed your skills and have plenty of experience you can start to demand more money for your services.
If you work for a salon then you often get an hourly rate plus tips – which includes commission for other treatments you are able to sell. This means that with some clever sells techniques you can really help to up your wages.
Of course you also have the chance to offer hair dressing as a private job or the opportunity to set up your own business, so really it is up to you!
This is just a short look at some of the possible jobs and career choices we have in this day and age. If you are lucky enough to have a job then it could be wise to hold onto it for a year or so in order to see how the financial climate improves. However if you are looking for work and considering a new career path then one of the above choices could well be the right one for you!
